What this actually is

Most people who walk in for design help don't want a six-month interior design project. They want someone who knows what they're doing to look at their room, listen to what they're trying to do, and tell them what would actually work.

That's what this is.

You don't need a big budget. You don't need to know any of the language. You don't need to have a clear vision of what you want, in fact it's easier if you don't. Bring photos. Bring dimensions if you have them. Bring the curtain you're trying to match, the paint chip you've been looking at, or the screenshot from Instagram that started the whole thing.

We sit down at the table, look at it together, and work out what would work.

What you get, what you don't

What you get

  • Time with someone who does this every day
  • Honest opinions, including when something won't work
  • Recommendations of specific pieces we stock that fit what you're trying to do
  • Fabric, carpet, and paint samples to take home and live with
  • A written quote if you decide to go ahead

What we don't do

  • Six-month design projects (Saverys of Broadway does those, see below)
  • Charge commission on the brands we recommend
  • Push you to buy at the meeting; take the samples home and decide in your own time
  • Make you feel stupid for not knowing what you want

When this isn't the right fit

If you're looking for full bespoke project design, with a designer assigned, mood boards, room schedules, and project management, that's our sister showroom Saverys of Broadway. They handle whole-house projects for both Broadway and Ludlow, with the longer timelines and project budgets that go with it.

If that's what you're after, pop into the Broadway showroom on the High Street.

For everything else, Canwell is the right room.

Questions people ask

  • Is the consultation really free?

The in-store consultation is free, yes. The home visit is £75, refunded against any purchase over £500.

  • Do I have to buy anything?

No. Some people leave with a plan and come back a fortnight later. Some leave with a sofa under their arm. Some leave with samples and decide to wait. All fine.

  • What if I don't know what I want?

That's most people. Bring photos of the room, anything that's caught your eye, and a rough sense of budget. We'll work it out together.

  • Can you help with paint colours?

We can advise based on the carpet, fabric, and furniture you're working with, and we stock samples of Farrow & Ball and Little Greene. We don't paint walls.

  • Can you help with one room or do I need to do the whole house?

One room is fine. Most people start with one and come back for the next.

  • How long does an in-store consultation take?

Usually 30 to 60 minutes. Longer if it's a bigger project.
